About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated arboriculture professional who is ready to step into the consulting space. This role is ideal for someone with hands‑on industry experience who is looking to expand their career into advisory work, reporting, and client‑focused project support, whilst still having the opportunity to conduct practical work in the field.

You will bring a strong practical understanding of tree health, structure, and site conditions, along with a genuine interest in developing your technical writing, assessment, and consulting capabilities. This position offers structured support, professional development, and exposure to a wide range of projects, making it an excellent pathway for someone eager to grow within a collaborative consulting environment.
This is a rare opportunity to join a team consisting of five (5) AQF5 Diploma qualified arborists. You will receive mentorship from all the team including Senior Arborists and ecologists to ensure you have a successful start to your career.

Key Responsibilities
• Complete on‑site tree inspections, health assessments, and hazard evaluations.
• Support on‑site tree inspections, health assessments, and basic hazard evaluations under guidance from senior team members.
• Assist with data collection, tree identification, and preliminary observations for risk and retention assessments.
• Contribute to the preparation of clear, accurate, and industry‑aligned technical reports.
• Support project delivery across residential, commercial, infrastructure, and local government sectors.
• Use GIS and digital field‑capture tools to record and organise arboricultural data.
• Engage in ongoing professional development to build your consulting capability, technical writing skills, and assessment confidence.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, including in‑house ecologists, to support integrated project outcomes.
• Assist with ecology tasks when required during periods of overflow.

Requirements

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Essential:

  • AQF Level 3 in Arboriculture (minimum), with a commitment to progressing toward AQF Level 5

  • Practical experience in arboriculture (climbing, ground operations, or tree maintenance).

  • A strong foundational understanding of tree health, structure, and site conditions.

  • Willingness to develop skills in report writing, assessment methodology, and consulting practices.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with an interest in improving technical writing.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive team.

  • Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive, motivated approach to learning.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with GIS, digital field‑capture tools, or project administration software.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.

  • Experience interacting with clients, contractors, or local councils (even informally).

  • A former climber or practical arborist wanting to remain in the industry while transitioning away from full‑time physical work, with interest in occasional hands‑on tasks.
